Antenatal classes are held four times a year at the Otorohanga Parents Centre building in Kakamutu St, Otorohanga. They are funded by the Waikato District Health Board and are offered free to all pregnant women and their partners.

The classes are held on Wednesday nights and run for six weeks. During these classes we cover;

Getting your baby into the best position for birth.

Pelvic Floor exercises

Parental Leave

Labour—what to expect, how to manage the pain, positions during labour.

What happens when the birth doesn’t go according to plan

Breastfeeding

Practical Parenting, learn how to bath a baby and put on nappies and get them into their carseats!

Antenatal classes are a good way to meet people in your area who are pregnant and to have ongoing contact for support and friendship after your baby has arrived.

FREE ANTENATAL CLASSES 2007

Classes are spread over a 6-week period and are run by Anita Bain (Midwife and adult educator).

The aim is to cover all topics -Pregnancy, Labour, Birth, Postnatal, Medical Intervention, Breastfeeding, Infant Nutrition, the 1 st 6 weeks, Bassinette Layette, Bathing & Nappy Changing.
